Resumen

Las obras que le dieron fama a Dante están escritas en lengua vernácula y pese a ello hubo quienes lo incluyeron como integrante, o bien predecesor, del humanismo florentino. Se analiza esta cuestión y el hecho de que sus textos, en particular el Convivio y la Commedia, a diferencia de casi el resto de los escritos humanistas, exhiben un manejo erudito del estado del arte en cuanto al conocimiento de los escritos sobre óptica que circulaban a principios del siglo XV en Italia.

Biografía del autor/a

Rafael Martínez, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Facultad de Ciencias, Departamento de Matemáticas. México

Licenciatura en Física en 1974. Estudios de posgrado en Mecánica Estadística en Inglaterra (1975-77) y a partir de 1979, académico de tiempo completo en el Departamento de Matemáticas de la Facultad de Ciencias (UNAM). Estancias de estancias de investigación en el International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Trieste, Italia), Universidad de Florencia, Universidad Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona), Instituto A. Koyrè (París), etc.

Sus áreas de interés académico son la historia de la ciencia, filosofía natural y matemáticas, en particular en la Grecia clásica. Historia de las matemáticas en el mundo árabe, historia de la óptica desde la antigüedad griega hasta el siglo XVII. La confluencia de las artes pictóricas y las matemáticas en el Renacimiento. La revolución astronómica desde el siglo XIV hasta los inicios del XVI.
