Call for paper: The Locus of Technology
The academic Journal, “FIGURAS REVISTA ACADÉMICA DE INVESTIGACIÓN invites the academic community of Philosophy to participate with articles for the dossier
The Locus of Technology
One of the challenges that Philosophy is currently facing is the problematization of attributing a universal meaning to the concept of technology. Traditionally, technology has been conceived and discussed from a perspective that universalizes it, without considering the local nature of the concept. This dossier aims to explore the philosophical implications of decoupling the concept of technology from its presumed universal nature and expanding the discourse surrounding its relationship with locality, regional contexts, the communal, and the singular. We invite contributions that seek to expand the scope of the philosophy of technology in Mexico and Latin America, providing new insights into this continually evolving field.
Suggested topics, but not limited to:
- Criticism to the universal concept of technology
- Philosophical analyses concerning the possibility of local or regional technologies
- Case studies examining the relationship between technology and locality in specific contexts
- The impact of regionality on the production and utilization of technologies
- Discussions on the feasibility of addressing non-Western technologies
- Reflections on the delineation of the concept of technology within contemporary philosophy
