Abstract

The book reviewed is the first of six volumes which conform the collection Historia de las literaturas en México, a project boosted by different institutions belonging to the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). The set of 18 essays brings to light the multiple factors that influenced the conformation of Mexican literary culture during the first half of the 19th century. The later derived from researches done by various specialists whose works are characterized by their variety of approaches, but whose guiding thread is to provide with a global vision that explains the Mexican literary system in a broad context that problematizes different veins of knowledge.

Author Biography

Gamaliel Valentín-González, National Autonomous University of Mexico

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Languages and Literature (UNAM). In 2016 he was a Grijalbo-CONACULTA intern and management assistant of the Literatura Mexicana magazine of the Centro de Estudios Literarios from the Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas (2017 – 2019). He has collaborated on various academic and independent editorial projects. He currently participates in the editorial department of the Laboratorio Nacional de Materiales Orales (LANMO), of the Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores, Morelia unit, as member of the project Adugo Biri, etnopoéticas.
