Abstract

In the book Un pequeño Montecarlo en el desierto Mexicali 1901–1913, Lorenia Ruiz Muñoz established that prostitution has been developed as a buoyant economic activity for Mexicali's development, in her research a variety of historical records from the early 20th century are analyzed.

Author Biography

Iván Alexis Roldán-Mendoza, College of Mexico

Studied Economics at Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán-UNAM, class 2015. After obtaining a postgraduate diploma of Social Development in 2016 at UNAM, he is currently studying the Urban Studies masters at Colegio de México.

He got involved in the index figures per square metre building of Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social in 2015. As well as being recognized for his attendance to the Derecho a la ciudad y Revolución Urbana seminar, which was organized by Instituto de Investigaciones Sociales at UNAM.

His academic interests are related to public policies to assist poverty and social inequality in cities. He is passionate about quantitative research methods, specifically on the grounds of spatial analysis.

He has always considered that to study, to comprehend and to offer solutions to social problems faced nowadays, are responsibilities of academia. In an effort to assist the least favoured citizens, he devotes his master’s dissertation to the analysis of social policy to aid people in street situations at the Mexico City government.
