Author Biography

  • Guadalupe Valencia-García, National Autonomous University of Mexico

    She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM. Researcher in the Programa de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales y Literatura of the Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias en Ciencias y Humanidades, [CEIICH]. She belongs to the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores in the Level ll. In December 2019 she was appointed as the Coordinator of Humanities by the Rector of the University, Doctor Enrique Graue Wiechers.

    At the University, she has held academic functions since her teaching career began in the Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales in 1986. She was coordinator of the Programa de Posgrado en Estudios Latinoamericanos (2012-2015) and Director of the Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias en Ciencias y Humanidades (2016-2019).

    She is a member of the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias and of the International Society for the Study of time (ISST). She has served as President of the Asociación Interamericana de Estudios sobre el Tiempo, A.C.

    Among her main publications can be mentioned the books Las voces del tiempo. Diccionario de citas (México: CEIICH-UNAM, 2019), El tiempo como esperanza (México: UNAM, 2018), Tiempos mexicanos (Madrid: Sequitur, 2010), or Entre Cronos y Kairós. Las formas del tiempo sociohistórico, (Barcelona: Anthropos/UNAM, 2007). The latter has recently been republished in e-book version (Mexico: UNAM/CEIICH, 2018). She has coordinated the books Contemporaneidad(es) (2012), El tiempo en las ciencias sociales y las humanidades (2009) and Tiempo y espacio. Miradas múltiples (2005).
