Abstract

The review examines Mauro Armiño's edition of The confessions by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. It focuses on the most interesting aspects of the prologue, the notes, and the translation that Armiño provides in order to offer a reading proposal of the work of the philosopher from Geneva.

Author Biography

Julio Ortega-Jiménez, National Autonomous University of Mexico

PhD in Letras in the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) with the research “Fantástico y proyección. Espectros cinematográficos en Clemente Palma, Horacio Quiroga y Adolfo Bioy Casares” (2021). Other research conducted by the author includes “Umbrales fantásticos. Análisis semiótico de cinco relatos fantásticos de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX en Hispanoamérica” (2015) and “Escalas de César Vallejo. Entre la vanguardia y lo fantástico” (2007). He is a full professor in the Bachelor’s Program in Language and Literature at the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán (FES Acatlán-UNAM). His lines of research include Renaissance and Modern European literature, fantasy literature, and the intertextual relation between literature and cinema.
