Abstract

The review presents the fundamental features of the book Pensar la educación. Vida y técnica by Ana María Valle and highlights the importance of rethinking education through the lenses of life and technique, using philosophy and pedagogy to reimagine the educational process.

Author Biography

    Tenured full professor (UNAM rank: Category B) at the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán (FES) Acatlán, Universidad Nacional autónoma de México (UNAM), where he teaches at the undergraduate level inPedagogía, Sociología, Relaciones Internacionales, Ciencias Políticas and Administración Pública, as well as in the Graduate Program in Pedagogía. His essays —published in collective volumes— examine political analysis, political theory, sociological theory, and public policy. He is the author of the book Max Weber: Sociología comprensiva (2008). A revised and expanded edition was issued in 2021. Furthermore, his work includes the essays “Cinema and Politics” (2024) and “Political Society and Artificial Intelligence” (2025), published in the journal Crisol Acatlán. He is co-author of the books En memoria de una tradición textual. Dos personajes, dos tiempos y un lugar: el Valle de México (2022) and Heterogeneidad y Asimetría: aspectos del desarrollo económico en América Latina (2025). He also coordinated the volume El objeto fílmico. Análisis sociológico, cinematográfico y literario (2020) in which he contributed a chapter.

    In the field of cultural outreach, his role stands out—together with several professors from FES Acatlán—as an organizer of the Ciclos de Cine-Debate, which have been held continuously since 2009. From these series, he has coordinated the publication of seven booklets—with one more currently in press—that compile the interventions of the commentators from each film–debate cycle. He has also coordinated the Reading Panels on Literature and Politics and also participates in various activities of the seminar Modernidad, Arte y Política.
