Abstract

This essay presents a series of reflections on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the development of academic activities, particularly with regard to the ethical dilemma involved in its use. It examines the tension between the use of this innovative and highly facilitative tool for academic work—which enables the structuring of information, supports problem-solving, and contributes to decision-making—and the ethical principles and integrity that must prevail in academic practice. This issue is especially relevant considering that these students will eventually enter professional life in a world where the influence of simulated reasoning, shaped by neural network algorithms, is increasingly evident.

Author Biography

Stephanie Cervantes-Razo, National Autonomous University of Mexico

She holds a PhD, a Master’s degree, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and has a specialization in Energy Law, as well as postgraduate studies in Gender and Law at the Graduate Program of the Facultad de Estudios Superiores (FES) Acatlán. She is an Associate Professor “C” (non-tenured) in the Multidisciplinary Fundamental Area of the Law Degree Program at FES Acatlán. Her research interests include human rights and a gender perspective, substantive equality and intersectionality, information and communication technologies, and artificial intelligence.

She coordinates the Focus Ius–Gender and Legal Intelligence Seminars. She has participated in various research projects at FES Acatlán and has collaborated in collective works such as Tópicos de Política Criminal y Tópicos de Política Criminal 2. Ciencia y Tecnología. She has delivered numerous conference presentations on topics related to Technology, Gender, Information Security, among others. She is an active member of the MGM Fraternity of the Barra de Abogados AC.
