Academic and professional integrity in the use of AI

This essay presents a series of reflections on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the development of academic activities, particularly with regard to the ethical dilemma involved in its use. It examines the tension between the use of this innovative and highly facilitative tool for academic work—which enables the structuring of information, supports problem-solving, and contributes to decision-making—and the ethical principles and integrity that must prevail in academic practice. This issue is especially relevant considering that these students will eventually enter professional life in a world where the influence of simulated reasoning, shaped by neural network algorithms, is increasingly evident.
