Abstract

Contemporary societies are increasingly organized around regimes defined by acceleration, productivity, and constant availability. All of which clash with the time required to sustain life. This article analyzes maternal temporalities as a subjective and relational experience capable of critically challenging this social organization of time. Using a conceptual and hermeneutic approach grounded in the phenomenology of the body, feminist care theory, and temporal studies, it maps the temporal regimes that permeate motherhood and outlines several analytical figures of temporal reorganization: suspension, circularity, simultaneity, eternity, desynchronization, overflow, and quantification. It argues that motherhood reveals tensions between bodily, relational, and institutional rhythms, offering a framework for an ethics of time based on vulnerability, interdependence, and the recognition of care.
