Abstract

The diversity of statistical issues that Astronomy faces nowadays is what led, in 2003, to the creation of the multidisciplinary area known as Astrostatistics. This, in order to facilitate the development of useful tools and to promote the divulgation of statistical knowledge.

Author Biography

Elizabeth Martínez-Gómez, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Facultad de Ciencias, Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the School of Science (UNAM) and completed her master's and doctoral studies at the Institute of Geophysics, Space Physics oriented (UNAM). She has spent postdoctoral residencies at the Institute of Astronomy (UNAM) and the Astrostatistics Center (Pennsylvania State University). She has been member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores and she is current professor at the School of Science and the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán (UNAM).
