Abstract

The economic indicators and the financial crisis of 2008 have motivated an academic debate that gains importance in the light of the recent protests between liberal orthodoxy, oriented towards controlling inflation, and the theoretical heterodoxy, which defends economic growth. On the basis of this second approach, a group of researchers of UNAM have demonstrated the negative influence of the internal liberal economic policies, as well as of the international processes, resulting from commercial and financial deregulation regarding Latin America's economic growth, because they reinforce restrictions around financial resources generation for productive investment, necessary not only to grow but also to overcome technological backwardness, slow growth and inequality.
