Abstract

Jürgen Habermas addressed the Russia-Ukraine war in two essays, which brought him a lot of criticism. From his perspective as an intellectual, related to the tradition of critical theory, he requests the armament against Ukraine to cease along with immediate negotiations with all parties with the purpose of protecting the citizens and avoiding more deaths due to the armed confrontation. Nonetheless, his demands are impossible to satisfy under the real circumstances of the geopolitical relations of power and they remain as a mere abstract idea on how to resolve armed conflicts. The following contribution is a critical perspective on the two essays written by Jürgen Habermas and his proposals.
