This paper argues that the polycrisis currently affecting the world, Latin America, and local societies is likely to deepen and persist indefinitely. The author contends that this situation is driven by the expanding influence of U.S. imperial dominance, which permeates nearly every sphere of social and political life. Unlike in previous periods, this dominance is exercised in a more direct and confrontational manner, contributing to the erosion of key principles such as the sovereignty of Latin American states, as evidenced by current developments across the region.
Despite the pervasive nature of U.S. influence, the paper maintains that critical and resistant perspectives must be strengthened not only through ethical and epistemological commitments but also through a renewed humanistic approach. Such an approach can help make visible and foster alternative social realities oriented toward a more just, equitable, and qualitatively improved world.
