Initially, the text addresses the recurrent epidemic outbreaks throughout human history as a constant problem, not only of health, but also as a terrible issue within social structure. The review locates literature as a fundamental element for the re-creation of epidemic recognizing in this way, the constant actions to mitigate and control them and, also, to distinguish the acts of social groups with various purposes. The second part, the most important, reflects deeply on the diaries of two English writers: Samuel Pepys, enriched in and with the plague, and Daniel Defoe, who had greater concerns in almost all cultural spheres, about the epidemic that struck London.
