Abstract

In 2020, the use of Information and Communication Technology reached its peak since it became an essential practice in the educational area at a global level due to the confinement derived from the COVID-19 pandemic. In this quantitative research project, the aim is to know the student’s perception of the Plan Global Program of the Language Teaching Center (CEI) of the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán (FES Acatlán) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México UNAM, to verify the effect of the synchronous virtual modality on learning English during the pandemic. The sample was formed by 54 English students who made up intact groups, that is, they already existed before starting the study. As a data collection instrument, a Google Forms was used with a total of 34 questions. The findings reveal that 59.3% of the students consider face-to-face classes as the best option for taking advantage of learning a language since it allows better planning, execution, and use of the classes.
