Abstract

This essay explores the connection between sound research and musical composition by recognizing the soundscape as a spectrum made out of multiple layers. Sound is presented to us in two moments and one possibility: the visible, the invisible, and the possibility of the revealable.

Author Biography

  • Zabdiel Ramos, Independent

    Architect graduated with a merit diploma from the Facultad de Arquitectura of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and with studies at the Escuela Politécnica Superior CEU San Pablo in Madrid, Spain.

    He collaborated with a variety of architectural firms nationally and internationally working as a coordinator of architectural and urban projects on diverse scales. He has been one of the founding partners of the studio "Fundación" since 2002. At the same time, he maintains a particular interest in sound and its relationship with space through musical production and sound exploration, which he analyzes constantly in his work as an architect.

    Among his national awards are: Honorable Mention in the “XVI Bienal Nacional de Arquitectura Mexicana", the "3ra Bienal de Jóvenes Arquitectos", the "Décima Bienal Nacional de Diseño en México", and second place in the contest “Patio Encuentro de Intervenciones Efímeras” with the installation "Atlas de lo Invisible: Inundación inminente”. He has participated in international exhibitions such as "A quien corresponda” Kirkland Gallery, Harvard Graduate School of Design in Massachusetts. In 2023 his project “Arca Sonora: entrelazando el paisaje” was selected as the winner of the international competition “+Model. Festival de Arquitecturas de Barcelona”.
