Abstract

Overall, Mexico City is a profound subject regardless of the point of view and discipline from which it is studied. This is, without a doubt, due to the massive number of people and cultures that have converged there  since its establishment to the present day. Besides, one of the most interesting periods is the pale-Hispanic period, from 1524 to 1535, in which it becomes a European city that coincides with a pre-Hispanic city.

Thus, by emphasizing on its origins, we find that one of the most fundamental elements that shaped the city and the way the mentality of its inhabitants and Castilian founders was defined, was in the Iberian Peninsula, specifically, the Andalusian world that includes the period from Tariq’s arrival with his troops from the African coast in 711 AD, to the takeover of Granada’s city by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492.

This Islamic world full of riches, power, and wonders is painted to the untrained eye- that generally corresponds to the western look- as an unknown space ignored intentionally by Eastern thoughts and the underrated Islamic villages in the last centuries.

Therefore, in the Scenarios section, the reader will find a variety of essays that were specifically selected to shape a corpus of researchers, European and Latin Americans, that focus their texts in Mexico City and its relationship with the Islamic world, that as a research objective intersects with artistic, archeological, urbanism and history becomes exciting.

The sections Perspective and Resonances support international multidisciplinary research. Four articles and three critiques offer an in-depth dialogue on current topics and future research topics.

In “Academic Writing Conventions Traveling by Negotiation with Reviewers” the concept of Academic Writing Conventions (AWCs) as an additional language is explored through the interaction of different interlocutors. “Dynamic of the Oaxaca oral tradition: El mito del pez dorado '' and the Monte Alban treasure’s discovery examines the findings of the tomb 7 in Monte Alban and how the old tale helped spread Zapotec and Mixtec culture. “The Application of Quantitative Methods in Political Research” brings the reader closer to the most common strategies to use said methods in a political analysis. And, “Insurgent landscapes” points out the most relevant aspects of interest to communication and social science specialists in the book Paisajes insurrectos. Jovenes, redes y revueltas en el otoño civilizatorio. “In every human aspect, people themselves are more decisive than things” the philosophical book Filosofia de la tecnica, which incorporates texts from philosophy author Jose Gaos, is critically reviewed and Reflexiones filosoficas España-Mexico: la justicia y sus practicas contemporaneas'' analyzes the various ideas of justice that philosophy has undertaken in Spain and Mexico taking into account the multicultural environments.
